Section 508
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act covers ICT that U.S. federal agencies develop, buy or use. The Revised 508 Standards (2017) incorporate WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA by reference — 2.0, not 2.1 or 2.2.
- Technical baseline
- The instrument names WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA directly.
- Applies to
- United States — federal ICT procurement
- Responsible body
- U.S. Access Board
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act — Revised 508 Standards (2017)
What it asks for
- ICT meets the Revised 508 Standards; vendors usually document this in an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) based on the VPAT template.
How AccessFold helps
- WCAG 2.0 as a first-class baseline, so criteria added later are not counted.
- An expert-authored VPAT/ACR-style review inside the product.
What this does not cover
- A credible ACR needs manual expert assessment; automation alone cannot produce one.
- Non-web ICT such as software and hardware.
AccessFold provides diagnostics and evidence relevant to this framework. It does not determine compliance.
