Document accessibility
Check PDFs against PDF/UA (ISO 14289-1) — 18 automated and 12 manual checkpoints — and run basic structure checks on Word and PowerPoint files before you publish them.
How it works
- We list the documents your pages link to — including ones hosted elsewhere, attributed to their host.
- PDFs can be assessed: automated checkpoints run on their structure, tags and metadata.
- The 12 checkpoints that need a person are listed for manual review with guidance.
- Upload a PDF, Word or PowerPoint file to check it before it goes online.
Details
- Document results are kept separate from web page results.
What it does not do
- It validates; it does not repair documents.
- Word and PowerPoint checks are basic — language, title, headings or slide titles, image descriptions and table headers — and are reported as partial. Other formats are listed so that their absence from the assessment is visible.
- PDF/UA-2 is not assessed.
