AccessFold browser checks
Four browser checks of our own: keyboard traversal, open dialogs, the accessibility tree, and reflow at narrow widths.
How it works
- Keyboard traversal: we move through the page with the Tab key and record where focus goes and whether it can be seen.
- Dialogs: open dialogs are checked for a name, a role and whether they behave as modal.
- Accessibility tree: we read the names and roles assistive technology would announce.
- Reflow and text spacing: the page is observed at narrow widths and with increased text spacing.
Details
- The results appear next to the automated findings, labelled as AccessFold checks, so you always know which engine produced what.
What it does not do
- They produce evidence for a reviewer; on their own they do not decide WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow or 1.4.12 Text Spacing.
- Nothing is clicked or submitted, so behaviour behind a button or a form is not observed.
